Trust me, I love that hunt as much as the next guy. And as a Twin Cities local, I think that hunt has now taken me to literally every antique shop in the city.

Thankfully, I’m here to wash the dust off my hands and report back that St. Paul does, in fact, have some awesome antique stores.

From carefully curated collections of antique furniture to mountains of old junk, there’s a St. Paul Antique store for whatever you’re looking for.

Let’s get hunting!

Wescott Station Antiques

For the past 40 years, this family owned business has sat right in the middle of all the action on downtown St. Paul’s West 7th Street. Maybe that location right next to the Xcel Energy Center explains this shop’s awesome collection of antique sports memorabilia, which naturally tends to focus on those long lost Minnesota North Stars.

You’ll also find a stunning collection of stained glass and beer collectibles, not to mention all the usual antique store finds. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the amazing collection of antique furniture in the basem*nt!

Antique Mall of St. Paul

Antique Mall in St. Paul anchors a little collection of Antique Stores along Selby Avenue in Saint Paul’s Mac-Groveland neighborhood.

If it’s variety you’re looking for, the Antique Mall has got you covered. This shop is huge, with both an upstairs and a downstairs. Upstairs features far more antique cases than any other shop in the city, while downstairs is a mess of junk in the best way – perfect for rolling up your sleeves and getting digging!

Truly, a fantastic antique shop.

Peter’s Oldies But Goodies

Right across the street from the Antique Mall in St. Paul sits Peter’s Oldies But Goodies.

I’ll never forget the first time I walked in here. I was immediately greeted by a massive, perfectly restored 15 foot tall railroad crossing signal. I’d never seen anything like it, and it was made all the more impressive by the towering stack of spotlessly cleaned antique cameras next to it.

I knew then that this was a special place, and the ever-rotating collection of antique furniture has only confirmed that thought since. If you’re into old furniture, Peter’s is a must-stop.

West St. Paul Antiques

Part antique store, part museum. Located just across the Smith Avenue High Bridge, West St. Paul Antiques is an award winning antique store that includes three floors of antiques and collectibles. Spread throughout those floors are a collection of museum pieces showcasing the unique history of St. Paul – don’t miss the St. Paul Winter Carnival Museum!

Anthony Scornavacco Antiques

Stepping into Anthony Scornavacco’s is like stepping into the exquisitely decorated house of your wealthy friend, if that friend happened to be an award winning antique dealer!

From bronze statues to marble lions to antique chairs that look like they popped out of the queen’s castle, this downtown St. Paul antique shop has one of the most stunning (and probably, expensive!) locations anywhere. It’s definitely something you have to see, even if you and I might not be able to afford half the beautiful stuff in here!

Center for Lost Objects

This West Seventh is home to an impressive collection of hand picked stuff to fill every nook and cranny of its corner store location.

The Center for Lost Objects describes itself as a “gift and curiosity shop, art gallery, and open art studio.” In keeping with that theme, you’ll find everything from refurnished furniture to vintage jewelry, old books, artist creations, and tons of stuff in between.

Succotash

Here’s a different type of antique shop. Succotash focuses entirely on funky, retro goods from the narrow window between the 1950s and 1970s.

Such a cool idea, and a huge hit for anyone looking for that perfect piece of mid-century modern furniture or colorful retro decoration to fill out their space. Reasonable prices, too!

  • Address: 781 Raymond Ave, St Paul, MN 55114
  • Website: Succotash

Northwest Architectural Salvage

For those doing a bit of antique DIY’ing, Northwest Architectural Salvage near Summit University is a must visit.

Each isle is packed with overflowing stacks of old wood, doorknobs, lights, chandelier, and more. It can all be a bit overwhelming, but the selection can’t be beat!

Come prepared to do some digging, and you just might find the prefect piece to round out your project.

Antique Avenue in North St. Paul

Still haven’t found what you’re looking for? (Or just can’t get enough antiques?)

Well, I’ve got some good news. There’s a collection of antique stores in North St. Paul that might be one of the best kept secrets in the Twin Cities.

Most people don’t know that downtown St. Paul’s 7th Avenue continues northwest, for miles and miles. If you keep following it to the town of North St. Paul, you’ll come across the most dense strip of antique stores in the entire state!

This massive assortment of antique shops doesn’t have a nickname that I’ve ever heard about, which is surprising considering how unique the area is. So, I’m taking things upon myself. From here on out, the North St. Paul city block packed with 6+ neighboring antique shops shall now be known as “Antique Avenue.”

(If this catches on, I’m gonna feel really proud of myself…)

All told, the 500 feet along the main drag includes the following antique stores:

  • North St. Paul Antiques
  • Main Drag Vintage & Collectibles
  • Antiques at the Pharmacy
  • 7th Avenue Antique Mall
  • Old Skool Toys & Collectibles
  • The Nic Nac Vintage & Antiques

Even the neighborhood florist gets in on the action! Specialty Floral (sandwiched between two antique stores, of course) scatters old antiques for sale among their flower displays.

If you like antiques, you’ve gotta make this trip!

  • Address: North St. Paul, MN around the intersection of 7th Ave E & Margaret St.
