Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (1)

By Jennifer Fujita on May 1, 2019

Attention everyone…we’re going to have a quick family meeting. Mother’s Day is on its way, and that means it’s time to think about Mom for a change. (Right, Mom?) If you’re a dad (or a kid) who needs a little help in the idea department, breakfast in bed is a good place to start. To help you out, we’ve come up with 32 sweet and simple Mother’s Day breakfast ideas she’s sure to love (especially if someone else makes it for her!).

We’ve also provided a printable Mother’s Day menu containing more basic breakfast fare. Just have Mom fill it out, and then make yourself a shopping list. (Mom, if you’re having this family meeting by yourself, print out the menu, fill it out, and leave it as a hint in a place where your soon-to-be chefs can find it.) OK, family meeting over. You can now go back to wrecking the house.

Tacos de fruta

Use chocolate pancakes as your taco shells and fill them with Mom’s favorite fruits, diced to a manageable size. You can sweeten the meal with a dollop of whipped cream.

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (3)

Just-roll-with-it waffles

All you need to create this cinnamon Belgian bliss is a can of refrigerated cinnamon rolls and a Belgian waffle maker. (A regular waffle maker works, too.) Just separate the rolls, place one in each quarter compartment, and cook the same way you cook your waffle batter. Top with the included icing or add a spoonful of whipped topping.

We ♥ Mom cakes

Just put in some hearty effort at the griddle to show Mom how much you love her. Pour some batter in a squeeze bottle and trace a heart shape, and then fill it in quickly. Her heart will do flips for your flapjacks.

Smiley plate special

Make Mom a pancake breakfast portrait (or caricature) with a little help from her favorite foods. Voilà, an edible masterpiece!

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (6)

Smiley plate special II—The return

Or do a simpler rendition with a waffle! Mom won’t be able to resist this happy face. Yum!

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (7)

Silver-dollar bouquet

A dozen of these will thrill (and stuff) any mom. As these mini pancakes are bubbling on the griddle and before the flip, add cake-pop or popsicle sticks to them for a blooming awesome breakfast. Ahh, there’s nothing like the smell of fresh pancakes in the morning.

Mom’s-the-word pancakes

With a squeeze bottle and some pancake batter, you can write Mom a heartfelt poem about how much you love her. Or, if she’s watching her carbs, a simple “I (heart) Mom” will do.

“Dessert first” plate

To “soft serve” this delightful breakfast, all you need is a quarter of a waffle and a sliced banana. Super simple—and no ice-cream headache.

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (10)

Cinna-mom chips and salsa

Mom can scoop up this fruity mix with cinnamon-sugar topped tortilla wedges. To make cinnamon chips, sprinkle cinnamon sugar on a buttered tortilla, cut it into pieces and then crisp them up in the oven on a cookie sheet. To make the fruit salsa, dice up Mom’s favorite fruits, then sprinkle a little sugar on top and stir well.

Mom’s signature blend

Frozen fruit, juice and a little yogurt in the blender make a healthy smoothie to jump-start Mom’s big day. Top it with fresh berries and chopped nuts.

Pretty egg flowers for Mom’s plate can be made easily with eggs, pepper slices and a sauté pan. Just sauté a ring of red, yellow or green pepper and crack an egg into its center.

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (21)

Egg and toast en pointe

Two squares of buttered bread in a muffin tin are a tasty base for an egg. Bake in the oven and sprinkle with herbs for a sophisticated mom-worthy dish.

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (22)

Omelettaccino

Spray a microwave-safe mug with nonstick spray to make this omelet in the microwave. Whisk an egg and a little water in the mug and add salt, pepper and a little shredded cheese. In less than 2 minutes, you’ll be ready to serve breakfast.

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (23)

Burrito bueno

This is a breakfast Mom can roll with. Just add scrambled eggs and pico de gallo to a flour tortilla, roll it up, and top with spicy guacamole.

Frou-frou frittata

Make Mom the kind of breakfast she’d enjoy in a fancy restaurant—where she can wear her pajamas! This frittata has delicate asparagus spears, red onion, cheese and herbs. Here’s a recipe for mini frittatas if you want to learn how to make this delicious dish.

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (25)

Ya big softie

Why not make mom a soft-boiled egg and toast spears? If you have an eggcup, the presentation is even lovelier.

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (26)

Easy-peasy French toast

Remember all those times Mom cut up your food for you? Now you can return the favor! Make Mom’s French toast look extra fancy by cutting the toast into squares and drizzling with her favorite yummy syrup. Pretty and tasty.

Power flower

What mom doesn’t love doughnuts? Or flowers? Give Mom both with a doughnut ringed with blackberry and raspberry “petals.” What a sweet and thoughtful treat for Mom!

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (28)

Breakfast escargot

Start with a tasty muffin to make the snail’s shell. Then place a peeled banana below it to form his body. Use cake decorations and gel frosting to add a little smiling face. Even the busiest of moms will slow down for this breakfast.

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (29)

Bear hug toast

Spread a heart shape of peanut butter on the center of Mom’s toast. Use banana slices for ears and raisins for the bear’s eyes and nose. Drizzle honey over all (because that’s what mama bears love best). Be sure to give Mom a big bear hug on the side (it’s calorie free!) when you serve this toast.

Mother's Day Breakfast Ideas | Hallmark Ideas & Inspiration (30)

Croissolate? Chocolescent?

Before rolling up triangles of refrigerated crescent dough, place a spoonful of chocolate spread in the center. After baking, sprinkle with powdered sugar and almonds. Whatever you decide to call this breakfast dish, you know Mom will love it. Oui, oui!

Tartine (fancy toast)

A tartine is an open-faced sandwich with special spread on top. Jellies and marmalades come in all kinds of pretty colors and flavors. Pick Mom’s favorite and spoil her with it.

Blooming bagel

Spread cream cheese on top of a bagel half. Then arrange strawberry slices like flower petals atop it for a beautiful and healthy breakfast any mom would love.

Hearty toasts

Nothing says “I love you, Mom” like heart-shaped toast cutouts. Using a cookie cutter, create these sweethearts to show Mom how much you love her. Serve with cinnamon butter or fancy jam.
